Mr. Ibrahim Fazeel

Assistant Auditor General, Auditor General’s Office

Mr. Ibrahim Fazeel is a fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and a fellow chartered accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives, a Chartered Internal Auditor (UK and Ireland), A Certified Internal Auditor with Qualification in Internal Audit Leadership from IIA Global, New York. He also holds a Master degree in Audit Management and Consultancy from Birmingham City University. He has over 20 years of experience in accountancy and auditing. Currently, he is Assistant Auditor General at the Auditor General’s Office.

He is also a Council member and Chair of the Technical and Standards Committee of Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives. He also served as a committee member of State Internal Audit Committee at the Ministry of Finance for a term of three years.

Over a 20-year career, he has carried out external audits of SOEs, public institutions, donor- funded projects and councils. He also works as Chief Internal Auditor, chief Risk Officer at the AGO.

In addition to working at the AGO, Mr. Fazeel regularly lectures as a part-time lecturer at Maldives National University. Furthermore, he developed and delivered several internal and external audit, governance and risk management trainings at the Institute of Professional Education (IPE) as a Senior Lecturer. He has been a regular facilitator of audit, risk and governance module of quarterly Corporate Directors training of Capital Market Development Authority every year.
