Dr. Basil Ajer

Director of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities at the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities in Uganda.

Dr. Basil Ajer is currently serving as the Director of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities at the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities in Uganda.

He holds a PhD in Agribusiness Management from Kenyatta University (2025), an MBA from Uganda Technology and Management University, and an MSc in Agribusiness Management from Makerere University. He also possesses additional qualifications in Monitoring and Evaluation, Agriculture, and Agriculture Education.

With over two decades of professional experience, Dr. Ajer has held several senior roles across the public and development sectors. These include Director of Technopreneurship at the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, and Director of SME Development at the Uganda Investment Authority. He has also worked with DANIDA and other organizations in agricultural programming and evaluation. In his current role, Dr. Ajer leads the development and implementation of policies, strategies, and regulatory frameworks aimed at advancing Uganda’s tourism, wildlife, and antiquities sectors.
