The Anti-Corruption Commission of the Maldives and the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cooperation in preventing and combating corruption. This milestone agreement marks a significant step toward fostering integrity, transparency, and good governance in both jurisdictions.
The MoU, signed on April 30, 2025, reflects the shared commitment of both Commissions to address the global threat of corruption, which undermines stability, economic development, and democratic institutions. It lays out a comprehensive framework for collaboration in critical areas such as prevention, integrity, transparency, and governance.
The agreement outlines a wide range of cooperative activities, including the exchange of best practices, technical assistance, staff training, joint participation in international forums, and regular bilateral meetings to review progress and develop future programs.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) and other international standards that promote the rule of law and the protection of human rights in anti-corruption efforts.
The signing of the MoU comes at a crucial time, as the Maldives prepares to host the Saudi-Maldives International Forum on Integrity from May 6–7, 2025. The forum will bring together over 180 senior officials and experts from more than 40 member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to explore innovative approaches to enhancing integrity and accountability in the tourism sector.
